Dan Brown (born June 22, 1964) is an American author of thriller fiction best known for the 2003 bestselling novel, The Da Vinci Code, which has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best selling novels of all time.  Brown's novels feature the recurring themes of cryptography, keys, symbols and codes, and have been translated into 51 languages.

He was named one of the World's 100 Most Influential People by Time Magazine, he has appeared in the pages of Newsweek, Forbes, People, GQ, The New Yorker, and others.
